About 80 people attended a meeting on 28th March, 2007, and decided to form a Day Club sponsored by the Morwell RSL and the Department of Veteran’s Affairs.  Volunteers were trained over a period of 6 weeks in June and July by The DVA’s Community Support Advisor, Marg Joiner.

The Day Club has been named the “Power House Day Club” and an official opening day was held on the 31st July, 2007.  It was well attended by about 90 members of the community.  Guests included the Australian Government’s Minister for Agriculture, The Hon. Peter McGauran MP (Who performed the official opening), Michael Mihaly, Marg Joiner from DVA and the President of the Morwell RSL, Mr Mal Bugg.

Members do not have to be an RSL or service club member. Everyone from the community is welcome to come along and join this fun group.  You will have a hot meal, outings, games, music, gentle exercise, form friendships, catch up with old friends and have an enjoyable day-out, every Tuesday.
Our first Power House Day Club commenced on Tuesday 7 August, 2007 and 34 members registered on that day together with 12 volunteers.  The Day Club operates from 10-30am until 2-00pm and on the first day activities included, a “Meet And Greet” and a cup of tea or coffee whilst each member received their Day Club name tags.
If you want to come along to the Day Club any Tuesday, please do, you will all be made welcome.  If you would like more details, phone the Morwell RSL Sub-Branch on 5134 2455 and leave a message.  A Day Club Co-ordinator or another Volunteer will contact you.
